FDA authorizes Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines for children 6 months and older

June 22, 2022

As of last week, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted emergency use authorization of the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 6 months and older.

The CDC recommends everyone ages 6 months and older get vaccinated against COVID-19. It is also strongly recommended that everyone 5 years and older get a booster to stay up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccines. Use the CDC’s COVID-19 booster tool to see when your child or teen can get boosters.

COVID-19 vaccines for children 6 months and older are being made available at New York City and State locations that have many available appointments, including walk-in appointments. For New York City vaccine sites, visit nyc.gov/vaccinefinder or call 877-VAX-4NYC. Outside of New York City, visit https://am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov or call 833-NYS-4-VAX.

The Institute will offer vaccine for young children (6 months-5 years) starting July 5, 2022. Please check our website institute.org/covid19vaccine for updates.
