COVID-19 Response: The Institute for Family Health and HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston are committed to protecting residents and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. All residents will be fit-tested for their appropriately sized N-95 masks on arrival. Residents are provided with ample personal protective equipment and are required to wear a surgical mask, an N-95 mask, a face shield, and disposable gloves during all patient interactions. Given these unusual circumstances, in order to minimize contact with and exposure to COVID-19 patients, first-year residents (interns) at this hospital do NOT examine COVID-19 positive and COVID-19 suspected patients. Instead, senior residents will go in their place. All COVID-19 positive and suspected patients are isolated in negative pressure rooms and staff follow appropriate precautions when providing their care. COVID positive patients are treated in accordance with up-to-date CDC recommendations and guidelines. All of these efforts are made with the residents’ best interests in mind and serve to better protect the health of our community.
