Family Nurse Practitioner Residency hosts virtual Q&A for prospective applicants

On November 19 and December 17, our Family Nurse Practitioner Residency faculty and staff hosted virtual Q&A sessions for FNP students interested in applying to the residency for 2021-2022. Prospective applicants asked questions about the program and application, and chatted with faculty and staff.

What is the application timeline for 2021 – 2022?

The application deadline for 2021 – 2022 is December 31, 2020. We will offer interview invitations in January for February and March interview dates. We will make offers to candidates by the end of April.

Are there evening and weekend hours?

While the majority of the program is Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM, there will be occasional weekend and evening commitments. These are typically unique training opportunities, which provide residents with beneficial learning experiences.

Is there a post-residency employment commitment?

No. We do hire many residents and hope our graduates continue working to provide access to medically underserved communities, but we do not require residents to work at the Institute for Family Health following graduation.

Will residents have the opportunity to conduct visits over telehealth?

Yes. We recently added telehealth to our specialty rotation schedule and overall program curriculum. Residents will learn how to conduct appointments via telehealth and will participate in telehealth components throughout the program.
