Margaret Walsh, RN, FNP-BC
Director, Family Nurse Practitioner Residency
Primary Care Provider for Walton Family Health Center, The Institute for Family Health
Margaret Walsh is the director of the Institute’s Family Nurse Practitioner Residency. Since 1994, she has provided primary care at the Institute’s Walton Family Health Center in the Bronx, where she still maintains an active patient panel. She has been responsible for the development of interdisciplinary models of care at the Institute, including several curricula for group medical visits that have been expanded throughout the Institute, such as diabetes shared medical visits in both English and Spanish. FNP Walsh has also been a champion of the CenteringPregnancy® and CenteringParenting® programs at the Institute and works very closely with both programs.
FNP Walsh attended the State University of New York at Buffalo for her Master of Science. She then attended Columbia University for the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. In the spring of 2018, FNP Walsh received the ‘Distinguished Alumni Award’ from the Columbia University School of Nursing. She has presented at various professional conferences across the nation, including STFM (Society of Teachers in Family Medicine) and at NONPF (National Organization for Nurse Practitioner Faculty).

Alba Pumarol, MD

Medical Director for Stevenson Family Health Center, The Institute for Family Health
As the medical director and a practicing primary care provider at the Institute’s Stevenson Family Health Center, Alba Pumarol is responsible for oversight of health center operations in the highly-underserved Soundview neighborhood in the Bronx. She has served as the center’s medical director since the Institute opened the location in 2012.
Dr. Pumarol completed her residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center. Her interests, including women’s health, contraception, prenatal care, adolescent and pediatric care, diabetes and preventive medicine, have been invaluable in her work at the Stevenson center, a bustling urban community health center that provides care to about 10,000 diverse individuals annually.

Robert “Red” Schiller, MD

Robert (Red) Schiller is the Institute’s senior vice president for clinical affairs and chief medical officer. Dr. Schiller, who joined the Institute in 1987, oversees clinical affairs and graduate medical education across the Institute’s network of practices. Dr. Schiller is a practicing family physician certified by the American Board of Family Practice. In addition to his activities at the Institute for Family Health, Dr. Schiller is vice chair of the Alfred and Gail Engelberg Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai/Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Schiller attended New York University School of Medicine and completed his residency and a one-year fellowship in family medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. He has a professional interest in homeopathy, acupuncture, and other alternative therapies that complement conventional medical care, as well as a strong interest in the integration of alternative medicine into primary care training. Dr. Schiller is the recipient of several awards including the Park-Davis Award for Teaching Medicine.

Margaret “Meg” Glausser, MD

Dr. Meg Glausser is a faculty member for both the Mt. Sinai Family Medicine residency and the IFH Family Nurse Practitioner residency. She specializes in full-spectrum primary care at Walton Family Health Center, in the Tremont neighborhood of the Bronx.
Dr. Glausser trained at Beth Israel in NYC after graduating with honors from UT Southwestern Medical School. Her interests include reproductive health and office-based procedures- training residents in prenatal care and office-based women’s health, ultrasound, orthopedic and skin procedures. She is energized to help train new primary care providers to offer high quality healthcare in communities where they are needed most.

Fern Davis, MS, FNP-BC
Associate Director, Family Nurse Practitioner Residency
Fern Davis has worked in health care for over 20 years. She first joined the Institute in 2008 as a clinical nurse manager. After making the decision to return to school, FNP Davis worked as a nurse practitioner at a skilled nursing facility in New Jersey before returning to the Institute in 2018. Her interest in primary care started at 9 years old, after her aunt passed away from a heart attack. The clinic is where she believes the most people can be reached before it is too late. As the newly appointed Associate Residency Director of the FNP Residency program, she is excited to be apart of helping future providers learn and develop.
FNP Davis holds a Bachelor’s and Master of Science degree in Nursing from Pace University. She is Family Nurse Practitioner Board Certified and a member of the NYS Nurse Practitioner Association.
