Outpatient Training Site

The Institute for Family Health at 17th Street

The primary continuity training site for our program is a bustling, urban federally qualified health center located in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. Over 13,000 patients of all ages visit our center each year. In addition to comprehensive primary medical care, the site offers onsite behavioral health care, HIV care and more. Our patients come from many neighborhoods in New York City because our comprehensive service delivery model helps to overcome barriers to care.

Mount Sinai Hospital

The inpatient training site for the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Program (Downtown Residency in Urban Family Medicine) is Mount Sinai Hospital, located at Madison Avenue and East 98th Street in Manhattan. Founded in 1852, The Mount Sinai Hospital is a 1,141-bed, tertiary-care teaching facility acclaimed internationally for excellence in clinical care.

The Mount Sinai Hospital, the flagship hospital of Mount Sinai Health System, was listed among the nation’s top hospitals for care excellence in U.S. News and World Report in 2023. In addition, Mount Sinai’s Department of Geriatrics earned the No. 1 spot in the nation in geriatrics and was listed in the top 10 nationally in Cardiology, Gastroenterology, and Neurology and Neurosurgery.
