The Osteopathic Program
At the Mid-Hudson Family Medicine Residency Program, we are delighted to offer our osteopathic residents and medical students a broad spectrum of opportunities to use their hands-on skills in multiple arenas of family medicine. Our program has achieved and maintained the ACGME’s Osteopathic Recognition and our training emphasizes continuity of care with the goal of creating the finest osteopathic physicians.
Our faculty, both osteopathic and allopathic, are committed to excellence and teaching in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Our DO residents get to apply their skills with patients during our weekly OMM clinics where they are supervised by osteopathic faculty. Our dedicated weekly didactic sessions for osteopathy include reviewing and practicing techniques, board review, hospital rounds, and a variety of other osteopathic experiences. This education is DO geared but MD’s are welcome to join us to learn and to practice. During our general Wednesday afternoon didactics for all residents, there is also an ongoing series where learners of all training types, learn straightforward techniques they can use with and teach their patients.
In addition, residents are able to treat their continuity patients and hospitalized patients with osteopathic methods under the supervision of our staff. All three of our busy family health centers in Kingston, New Paltz and Ellenville have the facilities needed for OMT. We are affiliated with the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine and Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine – Middletown, and have retained many former students as residents and beyond. As an established program with osteopathic and family medicine principles at our core, we are proud of our excellent reputation for producing skilled physicians for our community.
