Why I love my job
I feel very privileged to be able to support individuals and families in my community. I love meeting folks where they are in their health journeys and working in partnership to meet their personal, family, and community health goals.
Professional Experience and Accomplishments
I am a graduate of the Medical Scientist Training Program at UMass Chan Medical School, where my dissertation was supported by a fellowship from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. My dissertation research focused on measuring neighborhood-level structural racism, and I was an active member of the Medicaid evaluation team. I previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Health and Human Services and Director of Public Health for the City of Worcester, Massachusetts. I remain engaged in public health advocacy at the local, state, and national levels. My research sits at the intersection of health economics, social epidemiology, and health policy, with a particular focus on structural racism and healthcare utilization.
