A little about me
Ray worked as a nurse for two years on a mental health and addiction unit on Milwaukee’s south side, learning Spanish, working on reducing stigma of mental illness, and educating patient’s loved ones. They plan to work with Doctors Without Borders in the future and have studied French.
Why I love my job
Ray grew up with a single mother who received care in free clinics and was inspired to do this work by the compassion of nurse practitioners.
Professional Experience and Accomplishments
Before nursing, Ray volunteered in the free clinic their mother attended, worked with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin connecting patients with community resources, and went on to do a clinical rotation with St. Ben’s homeless shelter.
