A little about me

I grew up in Delray Beach, FL. I attended the University of Florida where I completed a dual degree in Chemistry and Japanese. I went on to teach English at elementary and junior high schools in Osaka, Japan focusing on comfortable second language learning and global cultural exchange. After a brush with Japan’s hospital system and experiencing the country’s National Health Insurance, I was able to see another healthcare system. I returned to the U.S. and worked in a nonprofit clinic providing free healthcare services to uninsured and underinsured Floridians, a primarily migrant working, Spanish-speaking patient population. This experience gave me greater insight into healthcare inaccessibility and inspired me to contribute to the broader healing of illnesses and medical disparities in the U.S. I attended medical school at Florida State University, a program focused on responding to community needs and providing patient-centered care to underserved communities. While in Tallahassee, I sought opportunities for medical advocacy and shared these with medical students throughout the state to ensure a range of patient voices were represented during legislative sessions. I have experience lobbying, testifying, speaking, and organizing events to improve accessibility of women’s and behavioral healthcare in Florida. I also have been proud to work to expand the Stop the Bleed program in Florida’s panhandle, a program providing classes on bleeding control in response to the gun violence epidemic. I am excited to move to New York and serve diverse patient populations! In my free time, I have been enjoying exploring the city but still making plenty of time for my two cats and crocheting.
