A little about me
Hi! I’m Eddie, and I use he/they pronouns. I grew up outside Atlanta, Georgia as a child of Chinese immigrants. The immigrant community that I grew up in continues to inform how I want to share and care for those around me to the best of my abilities. In college, I studied Anthropology with a concentration in Global Health and the Environment, which formed the foundation of my worldview of medicine – one that prioritizes equity and humanity. I also studied Spanish, and I was able to spend a semester learning Public Health and Traditional Medicine in Chile, broadening my understanding of medicine outside the traditional biomedical realm. In St. Louis, I also volunteered with the Department of Health performing local street outreach to promote sexual health, STI prevention, and PrEP for HIV. After college, I worked as an AmeriCorps member at an FQHC in New Jersey coordinating fitness classes and nutrition packs for the Pediatrics Ándale program and providing community health outreach regarding asthma, COVID vaccinations and testing, insurance enrollment, and more. In medical school, I was lucky to be a volunteer and leader of the Equality Clinic of Augusta, a student-run free clinic for under/uninsured LGBTQIA+ patients in the southeast region, forming deep relationships with my local queer community. I am thrilled to be training at the Institute for Family Health-Mount Sinai, a family medicine program that at its core prioritizes community health, social medicine, and health equity. I am excited to get to know my patients, my community, and ultimately become a more informed and thoughtful healthcare provider and advocate. Outside of medicine, I love playing with my 2 cats Remy and Rigatoni, cooking and eating new foods, making coffee and tea, and spending time with friends and family. I enjoy being outdoors at the park or beach, yoga, hiking, playing games and easy sports, and traveling. I’ve dabbled in crocheting, sewing, Chinese calligraphy, and gardening, and I would love to get better at those too.
