A little about me
I was born and raised in the South Bronx to immigrant parents from the Dominican Republic. I graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Latin American Cultures and obtained my second bachelor’s degree from Hunter College, City University of New York (CUNY) in Biological Sciences. After college, I spent several years working in various clinical research projects centered around lung diseases, bone fractures, and healthcare disparities at the Columbia University Medical Center. As a medical student at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS), I held several leadership roles in student organizations. I served as President of Primary Care Progress and Vice-President of The Latino Medical Student Association. I am passionate about improving health literacy, mentoring the youth, and serving underserved communities. My interests in reducing health disparities and providing humanistic healthcare have shaped my path towards a medical career with a focus on community health, palliative medicine, and health advocacy.
Why I love my job
I love knowing that as a resident at the Institute I get to serve the community I grew up in. I love providing culturally-sensitive healthcare to my patients.
