New York, NY (May 8, 2018) – In the current issue of Health Affairs, the Institute’s Diane Hauser  co-authored a study titled, “Views Of Primary Care Providers On Testing Diverse Patients For Genetic Risks For Common Chronic Diseases.” The theme of the May issue is “Precision Medicine.”

For the study, they surveyed 488 primary care providers over the course of two years about their views on genetic testing for chronic diseases. Ms. Hauser and her partners found that providers felt unprepared to work with patients at high risk for genetic conditions and were not confident about interpreting test results.
