New York, NY (December 5, 2017) – On Monday, December 4th, the Institute for Family Health opened a new health center, The Institute for Family Health at 17th Street, located at 230 West 17th Street in Manhattan. This new, state-of-the-art location offers outstanding primary care, mental health and social services for people of all ages. Patients of the Sidney Hillman/Phillips Family Practice at 16 East 16th Street can now visit their providers at the new 17th Street location or at the Institute’s Cadman Family Health Center at 300 Cadman Plaza West in Brooklyn.

“This new site is breathtaking, modern, sunny and peaceful,” said Neil Calman, MD, president and CEO of the Institute. “We look forward to continuing to serve our Sidney Hillman/Phillips Family Practice patients and many new patients as we sustain the Institute’s unwavering commitment to meeting the health care needs of all New Yorkers.”

The Institute for Family Health is a federally qualified health center network committed to providing comprehensive and affordable health care to all people, regardless of their ability to pay. The Institute for Family Health at 17th Street will offer primary medical care for adults and children of all ages, including preventive care and screenings, women’s and men’s health services, mental health services, health education, and care for chronic illnesses, including diabetes and HIV. The health center will also provide social services such as insurance enrollment and care coordination. Institute patients benefit from the organization’s advanced electronic health record, which the Institute’s primary care teams use to make sure patients are getting the best care available. Patients can also access the Institute’s secure online portal to review their medical records, make appointments and securely message their provider.

Importantly, the Institute welcomes all patients regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. The 17th Street health center will serve patients who receive Medicaid, Medicare and any of dozens of private insurance plans, including “Obamacare” plans available through the New York State of Health insurance marketplace. Patients without insurance may be eligible for a discount based on their household size and income. The Institute never turns anyone away because they cannot pay for care.

The Institute for Family Health at 17th Street is located at 230 West 17th Street, New York, NY 10011, between 7th and 8th Avenues. The new location can be accessed by the following subway or bus lines: 1 or 2 to 14th or 18th Street; A, C, E to 14th Street; or the M20, M7, and M14 bus lines. The Institute’s prior location at 16 East 16th Street closed permanently on Friday, December 1.

The Institute for Family Health at 17th Street will be open 8 AM to 8 PM Monday through Friday and 8 AM to 6 PM Saturday and Sunday. To schedule an appointment at this site, please call 212-206-5200.
