The Institute Opens First Brooklyn Health Center

Brooklyn, NY (July 17, 2017) – On Monday, July 17, the Institute for Family Health will open the Cadman Family Health Center at 300 Cadman Plaza West in Brooklyn, near the Downtown Brooklyn / Brooklyn Heights transportation hubs. The practice will be the first Brooklyn location for the Institute, which operates a combined 30 health centers in Manhattan, the Bronx, and the Mid-Hudson Valley.

“The Institute is excited to be joining the Brooklyn community,” said Neil Calman, MD, president and CEO of the Institute. “We are proud to bring our quality health care to a new borough, and we look forward to serving the health needs of Brooklyn’s residents. In this time of uncertainty about the future of health care in the United States, this new health center continues the Institute’s unwavering commitment to meeting the health care needs of all New Yorkers.”

The Institute for Family Health is a federally qualified health center network committed to providing comprehensive and affordable health care to all people, regardless of their ability to pay. The Cadman Family Health Center will offer primary medical care for adults and children of all ages such as preventive care and screenings, women’s and men’s health services, health education and care for chronic illnesses, including diabetes and HIV. The health center will also provide social services such as insurance enrollment help and care coordination. Mental health services will also be offered in the near future. Institute patients benefit from the organization’s highly-advanced electronic health record, which the Institute’s primary care teams use to make sure patients are getting the best care available. Patients can also access the Institute’s secure online portal to review their medical records, make appointments and securely message their provider.

Importantly, the Institute welcomes patients regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. The Cadman Family Health Center will serve patients who receive Medicaid, Medicare and any of dozens of private insurance plans, including “Obamacare” plans available through the New York State of Health insurance marketplace. Patients without insurance may be eligible for a discount based on their household size and income. The Institute never turns anyone away because they cannot pay for care.

The Cadman Family Health Center is located on the 17th floor of 300 Cadman Plaza West, Brooklyn, NY 11201, between Clinton and Pierrepont Streets. The new location can be accessed by the following subway or bus lines: 4 or 5 to Borough Hall; N, R or W to Court Street; 2 or 3 to Borough Hall; A, C or F to Jay Street – Metrotech; or the B25, 26, 38, 41, 52 or 103 bus lines.

The Cadman Family Health Center will be open 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Saturday, as well as Monday and Wednesday evenings until 8 PM. To schedule an appointment at this site, please call 718-822-1818.
