Institute Health Center Wins School Wellness Award
For the second year in a row, the Institute for Family Health’s School Based Health Center at the James Weldon Johnson school (P.S. 57) won the highest 2012 Excellence in School Wellness Award from the New York City Alliance for Health. The award recognizes elementary schools working to create healthy school environments, reduce childhood obesity and improve academic achievement. The school’s efforts included Zumba workout classes and a successful water fundraiser, as well as nutrition and test anxiety workshops. The award ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the New York Academy of Medicine.
The Institute’s school based health centers offer affordable primary health care services to students, right at school. As part of our commitment to the school community’s health, our centers offer health education and strive to make it easier for students, parents and school staff to lead healthier lives.
