Giving Fatherhood a Healthy Start Event

June 27, 2012

Ulster County Healthy Start held its first annual “Giving Fatherhood a Healthy Start” event over Father’s Day weekend. The event is part of an initiative by the Institute for Family Health to increase awareness of the import role fathers play in their families and in the community.

Held at the Esopus Fire Department, the event included demonstrations from the fire department and a volunteer ambulance squad, car seat safety checks, health and parenting information and numerous fun activities. Approximately 100 community members attended and enjoyed the give-aways, free food and father’s day gifts.

The Ulster County Healthy Start program is an initiative of the Institute for Family Health, a federally qualified health center that provides services to the community. Healthy Start provides prenatal and parenting support and education for families in the community by offering voluntary home visits throughout Ulster County.
