The Institute Joins National “All of Us” Research Recruitment Effort

September 28, 2018

This month, the Institute received support from the federal Health Resources and Services Administration to join in a country-wide effort to enroll 1 million diverse U.S. residents in a pioneering national research program, All of Us. The Institute, along with dozens of organizations across the country, will conduct outreach to get the word out about All of Us, and create opportunities for community members to enroll

According to the National Institutes of Health, which runs All of Us, the program will enable a new science of  “precision medicine, a revolutionary approach for disease prevention and treatment that takes into account individual differences in lifestyle, environment, and biology.” At the Institute, we know it’s critical that health care — and health care research — support the values and needs of all people, not just those with wealth or privilege. This groundbreaking and thoughtful program aims to ensure that people from every walk of life reap the benefits of health research and medical breakthroughs.

Curious? You can learn more about the program, read about its privacy safeguards, understand how researchers can use the data, and even enroll yourself!
