Assemblymember Karines Reyes visits Stevenson Family Health Center
January 30, 2025
The staff at the Stevenson Family Health Center were thrilled to welcome New York State Assemblymember Karines Reyes for a site visit on January 23, 2025. Assemblymember Reyes toured the health center and met with staff to discuss current policy issues affecting community health centers.
In the meeting, the Assemblymember met with Dr. Eric Gayle, the Institute’s President of Health Care Services; Dr. Alba Pumarol, regional director for the Bronx; Tina Goodrich, a member of the Institute’s Board; Shakima Davis, nurse manager; and Patricia Addo-Domo, regional director for behavioral health. Staff spoke with Assemblymember Reyes about the urgent need for Medicaid rate reform for community health centers in New York State. In a 2023 report by the Urban Institute, researchers found that health centers in New York State are only reimbursed for about 70% of the cost of providing care. We continue to rely on our elected officials to advocate for sustainable investment in community health centers like ours.
We thank Assemblymember Reyes for her visit and for her continued advocacy efforts.
