Stevenson Family Health Center surpasses 2,500 COVID-19 tests for Bronx community
January 29, 2021
The Stevenson Family Health Center has provided over 2,500 COVID-19 tests to patients and community members in the Bronx since opening as a public testing center last August. Because of the health center’s location in the Soundview peninsula in the Bronx, where there is a shortage of medical services, the Institute partnered with New York City to promote the site as a public testing center.
To get a test, any resident of New York City can walk into the health center and schedule a test with the staff, call the center directly, or schedule through MyChart. The health center is also a listed testing site on New York City’s testing locations website. Testing is available Monday through Friday, from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
To receive their results, patients can view the results in MyChart or they can call the phone number of the lab that is performing the test. The nursing staff is also providing follow-up calls with patients to discuss results.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer this service to the community,” said Dr. Alba Pumarol, the Medical Director for the Stevenson Family Health Center. “Greater access to testing is critical to minimizing the spread of COVID-19. The staff at Stevenson keep working diligently to provide services to the community—services that are clearly needed, as proven by the high numbers of tests we are performing.”
Testing for COVID-19 is available at all Institute health centers. Anyone can get a COVID-19 test at no cost to them by visiting the New York City Health Department testing website or the New York State Health Department testing website.
