Positions now open for Public Health AmeriCorps

September 29, 2022

The Institute is partnering with the Community Health Care Association of New York State (CHCANYS) to offer Public Health AmeriCorps positions at the Institute for the 2022-23 program.

AmeriCorps members at the Institute will serve as Diabetes Education and Prevention Coaches and work with patients and their families to provide education related to diabetes prevention, wellness, and self-care skills. AmeriCorps members will also help patients connect with other health and social services as needed. Positions are available for 10-month, full-time service terms.

The Education and Prevention Coach positions are available at Institute locations in the Bronx, upper Manhattan (Harlem) and in Ulster County in the Mid Hudson Valley (Kingston, New Paltz, and Ellenville). Members will work Monday-Friday as part of Institute care teams and collaborate with other health center staff to provide care. Members will also participate in team days, service projects and periodic training opportunities.

CHCANYS Public Health AmeriCorps members receive a living allowance of $26,000, in addition to other benefits including transportation reimbursement and health insurance. Members also receive extensive public health training and professional development and an education award of $6,495 at the successful completion of their term.

Applications are being accepted until all positions are filled. To apply, please email oreboredo@CHCANYS.org or visit MyAmeriCorps.
