#NHCW15 Photo of the Day: Dr. Calman Supports New York Health Act

August 9, 2015

New York, NY (August 9, 2015) – Today marks the first day of National Health Center Week (#NHCW15). The theme for this year’s week-long celebration is “America’s Health Centers- Celebrating Our Legacy, Shaping Our Future.”

For each day this week, we will share a “Photo of the Day.” Each photo will be a peek into the many stories that have unfolded throughout the Institute for Family Health’s history. Today’s photo is of Dr. Neil Calman, the Institute’s president and co-founder, speaking about the “top ten reasons New York needs a single-payer plan now” at New York State Assemblyman Richard Gottfried’s hearing on the NY Health Act in December 2014.

Health Centers serve over 23 million Americans at more than 9,200 delivery sites in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and U.S. territories. One in every fifteen people living in the United States depends on their services.  Health Centers deliver high quality, cost effective, accessible care while serving as critical economic engines helping to power local economies. The Institute for Family Health operates 27 health centers in New York State serving nearly 95,000 patients annually. Services are available to people of all ages, regardless of ability to pay.
