Mammograms available at Bronx health centers

November 1, 2022

Free mammograms are available on select dates at the Stevenson Family Health Center and the Mount Hope Family Practice. A mobile testing bus provided through a partnership with Mount Sinai will park directly outside the two health centers, so Institute patients and community members can receive mammograms in a safe, private space. A mammogram is an X-ray that checks for breast cancer. Mammograms are used to find cancer early, when it can be easier to treat.

The Institute partners with Mount Sinai to offer mammograms outside our NYC health centers throughout the year. We were delighted to be visited by New York City Council Member Amanda Farías at a recent mammogram event on October 28th at our Stevenson Family Health Center. Council Member Farías and the City Council Women’s Caucus are active supporters of breast cancer screening awareness. The Council Member’s visit to Stevenson helped promote the screenings more widely – watch Bronx News 12’s coverage of this important service.

The mammogram bus is open to anyone over 40 who has not had a mammogram in the last 12 months. The mammograms are free, but insurance will be charged if available.

Mammograms will be available on the following dates:

  • Thursday, December 1 – Mount Hope Family Practice (130 West Tremont Ave., Bronx)
  • Thursday, December 22 – Stevenson Family Health Center (731 White Plains Road, Bronx)
  • Wednesday, December 28 – Mount Hope Family Practice (130 West Tremont Ave., Bronx)

To make an appointment for a mammogram on one of these dates, please call 845-332-8823.
