In memory of Dr. Cheryl Clark
May 28, 2021
We at the Institute are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Dr. Cheryl Clark. Revered by patients, co-workers, residents and students, Dr. Clark was truly an exceptional person and a gifted physician and educator. She will be remembered as a compassionate, kind and knowledgeable physician and teacher.
Dr. Clark joined the Institute in August 2012 as a residency faculty member, after training as a resident in upstate New York. She enthusiastically took on many faculty roles including inpatient attending, advisor, and preceptor, as well as leading CenteringPregnancy prenatal care groups. Faculty, staff and residents knew her to be dependable and loyal, and during her tenure she became a pillar of the residency and the Institute’s 17th St practice.
To honor Dr. Clark, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Program (Downtown Residency in Urban Family Medicine) will change the name of our annual residency obstetrics award to the Dr. Cheryl Clark Obstetrics Award. The award is given annually at graduation to a resident that excels in the field of obstetrics. The resident work room at 17th Street will also be named the Dr. Clark Residency Room.
The Institute sends our condolences and prayers to Dr. Clark’s family.
