Diabetic eye exams now available at select health centers

June 18, 2025

The Institute is thrilled to announce that eye exams for people with diabetes will soon be available at several of our health centers. Patients with diabetes will be able to get their yearly diabetes retinal screening using a special machine called the LumineticsCore, which takes a picture of the eye and uses AI technology to check for eye problems. The entire test is quick, painless, and takes just a few minutes.

Everyone with diabetes should have their eyes checked at least once a year. This important test checks for a condition called diabetic retinopathy, in which high blood sugar levels damage the blood vessels at the back of the eye. Diabetic retinopathy has no symptoms until the later stages, but if left untreated, it can cause blindness. That’s why it’s vital to get yearly eye exams if you have diabetes.
