The Mid-Hudson Valley region comprises several small cities and towns including New York’s first capital, Kingston. We are about two hours away from New York City and one hour away from Albany. Residents have truly found the best of both worlds during their service here: easy access to the urban, while taking advantage of all the region has to offer closer to home, such as outdoor recreation, gastronomy and food tourism, and a thriving arts community.

The communities in which we work are located within the Catskills Mountains, which offer numerous hiking trails, mountain views, and sporting options like rock-climbing, skiing and kayaking. Those who enjoy outdoor activities will find no shortage of fun things to do. We build outdoor recreation into our curriculum, with several nature retreats for our residents occurring each year. Most recently, we’ve held retreats at the Mohonk Mountain House and an outdoor game day at a local park.

The Mid-Hudson Valley is also a leader in the farm-to-table movement. Numerous restaurants, orchards and farmers’ markets operate all over the region, and our residents have found many opportunities to explore and enjoy the foodie scene.

Kingston and the surrounding communities are home to a thriving arts and culture scene. Several theatre groups operate within the region, and you will find many galleries, shows and events throughout the year. There are also live shows and events at Bard College’s Fisher Center.

Check out the local publication Chronogram.com to learn more about area events throughout the year.

You can also tune in to Radio Kingston for community radio shows.
