A little about me
I have been a registered nurse since 2009, and worked in a Level 1 Trauma ER until discovering my passion for diabetes care management. As a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist with the Institute for Family Health, I use a holistic, patient-centered care approach. I help patients leverage knowledge and tools to make informed decisions about their condition. I believe it is imperative to work collaboratively with other interdisciplinary departments in order to meet patients’ needs and goals. Most importantly, I practice empathy, non-judgment, respect for patient preference, and evidenced-based approaches.
Why I love my job
I absolutely love my work as a diabetes specialist because it provides an opportunity to address patients’ struggles while also celebrating achievements. I take great pleasure in helping patients move from “I’m not feeling well or optimistic” towards “I feel so much better, energetic and proud of myself.”
