A little about me
Dr. Hoogewerff has a patient-centered approach and is extremely passionate about addressing patients from a whole person perspective. She partners with patients to evaluate the interaction of genes with environment and lifestyle factors to understand the root causes of their health concerns, and design customized treatment plans focusing on nutrition education, stress management, personal wellness, and simple yet powerful strategies for leading one’s healthiest life. Dr. Hoogewerff believes that everyone deserves to feel their best each and every day.
Why I love my job
Dr. Lauren Hoogewerff loves practicing as a faculty physician at the Family Medicine residency because it allows her to develop long-term therapeutic relationships with individual patients and families, contribute to resident education and development, and work to build healthier, more just communities.

Professional Experience and Accomplishments
Dr. Lauren Hoogewerff completed her medical training at Tufts University in Boston. She developed her passions to serve the underserved and pursue social justice throughout her training by serving in a leadership role at a free clinic, participating in advocacy work through the American Medical Association and Massachusetts Medical Society, leading community service work through the Christian Medical and Dental Society, and training at a residency program that served a diverse urban underserved population with a focus on social justice. Dr. Hoogewerff also served as chief resident and led extensive quality improvement work at her residency clinic. She completed extra training in Integrative Medicine and used this training to lead group visits for weight loss, wellness, and chronic medical conditions. Dr. Hoogewerff practices both inpatient and outpatient medicine, and her clinical interests include underserved medicine, preventive medicine and wellness, integrative medicine, women’s health, pediatric and adolescent medicine, group visits, and quality improvement work. She has a keen interest in using her fellowship training in medical education to contribute to teaching and mentoring residents in training. Dr. Hoogewerff loves developing long-term relationships with patients and their families and partnering with them to achieve their health goals.
