Professional Experience and Accomplishments

I grew up in Lagos Nigeria and then in New York City in a medically underserved community, and my experience shaped my interest in accessible, comprehensive, preventive and community and patient centered care. During medical school, I co-founded the Jacobs Community Group Fitness Club in response to student interest and a shared commitment to community wellness. The initiative aimed to make fitness more accessible to both students and local residents. I developed personalized nutrition and exercise programs tailored to participants’ abilities and goals, and led group workout sessions; both in person and virtually, focused on strength training, cardiovascular health, and flexibility. In addition, I served as the leader of a nonprofit, student-run street medicine outreach program dedicated to improving healthcare access for underserved and low-income populations. Prior to medical school, I worked as a youth ambassador, where I created and implemented a health education curriculum for youth from low-income communities. As part of an annual summer food drive series, I delivered weekly lectures on the biological foundations of nutrition and its impact on health and led hands-on cooking classes aimed at teaching affordable and nutritious meal preparation. I was a 2024 AAFP Family Medicine Leads Emerging Leader Scholar, 2022-2023 Brown, Clayton M. Scholar, Dr. Harry G. LaForge Scholar. and Dr. Solomon G. Brooke Scholar.
