Professional Experience and Accomplishments
Candice has worked in urban emergency departments in northern New Jersey and in HIV clinical trials research at Rutgers University. In nurse practitioner school, she participated in a global health practicum where she observed health care delivery in village dispensaries, clinics, and regional hospitals in Tanzania. Candice also co-authored a letter to the editor of the Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, highlighting the need for HIV-related professional development for acute care nurses. For her DNP scholarly project, Candice combined her experience in emergency nursing with her interest in HIV prevention by conducting a nationwide survey of emergency nurses’ perspectives on and experience with performing HIV screening in the emergency department. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she has been working to combat COVID-19 misinformation in the American Muslim community by participating in panel discussions through the COVID-19 Prevention Network (CoVPN) Faith Initiative and broadcasts on American Muslim 360 radio.
