Harlem Family Medicine residents and faculty host an online community health fair
February 25, 2022
On February 1, resident physicians and faculty in the Institute’s Harlem Residency in Family Medicine organized a virtual health fair for community members. Around 30 people joined the online health fair for presentations on such topics as healthy eating and nutrition, behavioral health, physical activity, myths and facts about COVID-19, and when to visit the doctor.
Dr. Brianna Michael and Guedy Arniella organized the event, and presenters included residency faculty Dr. Victor Sta. Ana and Dr. Lindsay Blevins, and Diabetes Educator and Nutritionist Eliza Hamburger. Presenters also opened up time for questions and discussion.
“Attendees were very enthusiastic about asking questions in the chat and the event turned out to be very interactive,” said Guedy Arniella, the Institute’s director of community health and outreach. “We are very proud of our residents’ work to build these ties with our community.”
“We are so pleased to be able to offer these resources to our patients and connect with the greater Harlem community,” said Dr. Brianna Michael, a resident physician who presented on physical activity and led a relaxation exercise. “Online events are a wonderful way to connect with people when in-person events are unavailable, or are inaccessible in some way.”
