September 30, 2021
The Institute for Family Health is pleased to announce that Dr. Linda Prine, MD, FAAFP, has been selected for the 2021 Thomas W. Johnson Award for Career Contributions to Family Medicine Education. This award recognizes outstanding contributions to family medicine education and is the highest honor presented by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).
At the Institute, Dr. Prine serves as the Director of Women’s Health and provides leadership for full-spectrum women’s and reproductive health care, integrating these two fields into broader family medicine teaching and practice. She maintains an active patient panel while also serving as faculty for the Institute’s family medicine residencies and as the co-director of the Reproductive Health Care and Advocacy Fellowship. In addition, Dr. Prine is the medical director and co-founder of the Reproductive Health Access Project (RHAP).
“I believe this is an award not just for me but for my whole community of clinicians who exemplify the phrase that ‘it takes a village.’” Dr. Prine said. “I take pride in family medicine fighting to keep our scope broad so that we continue to provide for those most marginalized parts of medical care which affect most urgently the poor and medically underserved communities: reproductive health care, transgender care, addiction care, HIV care, even maternity care. In these arenas, we have been following evidence and best practice guidelines and teaching patient centeredness.”
“We are immensely proud of the work Dr. Prine has done over the years to integrate women’s and reproductive health into the field of family medicine,” said Dr. Robert Schiller, Chief Academic Officer at the Institute for Family Health. “Dr. Prine has inspired a generation of family physicians and her impact is felt throughout the field.”
Dr. Prine will be honored at a ceremony at the AAFP 2021 Congress of Delegates on September 29, 2021.
Please join us in offering our heartfelt congratulations!
