Dr. Abigail Herron testifies at U.S. Senate Finance Committee hearing on fentanyl

On Thursday, May 23, 2024, the Institute’s Chief Behavioral Health Officer, Dr. Abigail Herron, DO, served as an expert panelist at a U.S. Senate Finance Committee hearing about the fentanyl crisis. Dr. Herron spoke to the need for integrating addiction treatment services into mainstream healthcare and the importance of investing in the behavioral health workforce. She also cited the importance of telehealth services in treating substance use, both in decreasing delays in getting care and allowing greater communication between clinicians and patients.
