Telehealth

In addition to our in-person services, we offer telehealth for behavioral health care and some time-sensitive medical needs.

  • Behavioral health: Most of our behavioral health clinicians offer telehealth visits for both new and current patients. If you would like a telehealth visit, let us know when you make an appointment.
  • Time-sensitive medical care: If you are a current patient and you are sick or have another time-sensitive need, call 844-434-2778 and we will help you get the care you need quickly.

You can do a video visit with a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Appointments are available throughout the week. Some weekend appointments are also available. Call 844-434-2778 or your health center to schedule.

Many behavioral health patients choose telehealth. In addition, if you have an Institute primary care provider, we will sometimes offer a telehealth appointment to meet your medical needs in a timely way.

Most insurance plans cover telehealth for behavioral health and some medical needs. Need insurance? We can help.

We use video visit software that meets high standards for privacy and security. Our staff will always be in a private area when they connect to your video visit. They also have secure access to our Electronic Health Record, so they can see your records during the visit.

Make sure your cellphone, tablet or laptop is charged. Try to find a quiet space for your visit. If you have a scale, blood pressure cuff, measuring tape or a glucometer, have these ready so you can give information to your health care provider.

Just like at your regular visits, try not to do other things at the same time. Focus on paying attention to your conversation with your health care provider.

For a video visit, you can use any of these devices:

  • An Android phone or tablet with Chrome
  • An iPhone or iPad with Safari
  • A desktop or laptop computer (Mac or PC) with Chrome
  • We recommend headphones or earbuds that have a microphone, but you can also use the speakers and microphone on your device

After you schedule your appointment, we’ll send you a link to your “virtual waiting room.” Click the link ten minutes before your appointment time. Allow access to your camera and microphone, and type in your name. When your health care provider is ready to join you, you’ll see them on your screen.

The Institute for Family Health accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and most insurance plans. If you do not have health insurance, we can help. Ask us about how to apply for our sliding-fee discount program. You may be eligible based only on income and family size.
