Dr. Victor Sta. Ana honored by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation

The Institute for Family Health is pleased to announce that Dr. Victor Sta. Ana, MD, has received the 2022 Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Faculty Award. This award is presented by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation and recognizes faculty physicians who are exemplars of humanism in the delivery of care to patients. Recipients of the Tow Award become lifelong members of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
Dr. Sta. Ana is a family medicine physician and the chair of the Residency Curriculum Committee for the Institute’s Harlem Residency in Family Medicine. He serves as the medical director for the Institute’s Health Care for the Homeless program, which provides primary care and related services to people experiencing homelessness at six Manhattan locations. He is also the director of the Primary Care Scholars Program, working closely with the Icahn School of Medicine to create and develop comprehensive clinical, research and advocacy training for medical students who are interested in primary care for underserved communities. Dr. Sta. Ana joined the Institute as a faculty physician in 2012, after graduating from our Beth Israel Residency in Urban Family Practice (now called the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Program).

Ana has done to promote humanity and empathy as an integral part of high-quality patient care,” said Dr. Robert Schiller, chief academic officer at the Institute for Family Health and the Alfred and Gail Engelberg vice chair of Family Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. “He continues to inspire medical students and residents to adopt the same approach in practicing humanism as a pillar of outstanding patient care.”
