Dr. Sarah Nosal elected to the AAFP Board of Directors

The Institute for Family Health is thrilled to announce that Dr. Sarah C. Nosal, MD, FAAFP, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). The AAFP represents 134,600 family medicine physicians and medical students nationwide and works to promote high standards within primary care practice through representation and advocacy.
Dr. Nosal is the Institute’s Vice President for Innovation & Optimization and Chief Medical Information Officer. As CIMO, she has been deeply committed to equitable information access and has worked to develop top-quality IT infrastructure to support patient care. Dr. Nosal was also instrumental in shaping the Institute’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the rollout of comprehensive telehealth services and vaccination sites. She has served as the President of the New York Academy of Family Physicians and as the NYSAFP delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates. In addition, Dr. Nosal has received the AAFP Degree of Fellow, awarded for distinguished service and continuing medical education.

The 2021 AAFP Board consists of 17 practicing physicians and one student representative. Members of the Board come from all over the United States and are chosen through an election process. The Board serves to further the mission of the AAFP, which is to improve the health of patients, families, and communities by serving the needs of its members with professionalism and creativity.
