Cynthia Kim selected for Equity Matters DEI Leadership Learning Community Fellowship

The Institute for Family Health is pleased to announce that Cynthia Kim, LCSW-R, Associate Program Director and Behavioral Science Faculty member at the Mid-Hudson Family Medicine Residency Program, has been selected for the Equity Matters DEI Leadership Learning Community Fellowship. This prestigious 18-month fellowship is an initiative through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) that seeks to create a framework for continuous learning and process improvement in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
Building upon larger goals of addressing structural barriers to physician workforce diversity and building safe and inclusive learning environments, ACGME Equity Matters fellows will take part in a series of courses and activities designed to generate implementable ideas and drive DEI improvement in graduate medical education. The fellowship also includes a capstone project, where each fellow will identify challenges within graduate medical education and work to develop and implement a viable solution.
As the previous Director of Behavioral Science for the Mid-Hudson Family Medicine Residency Program, Cynthia has worked to create and implement a robust behavioral medicine curriculum for resident education and wellness, and also serves as the clinical competency chair for resident academic support and evaluation. She has presented at both regional and national conferences and holds academic appointments at our affiliate medical schools.
“This learning community will provide me with the timely opportunity to help create accountability in moving our conversations and work for social justice toward action and meaningful change,” Ms. Kim said.
