Bronx Health REACH works in underserved communities to educate individuals and organizations on health disparity and how it affects health outcomes. Bronx Health REACH raises awareness among individuals, organizations, and institutions about health disparity in a number of different ways. With the help of trained faith-based health coordinators and community residents, Bronx Health REACH holds meetings, workshops, presentations, and public events to discuss this issue. Bronx Health REACH also conducts trainings and workshops for health care providers, medical students, and future health professionals on disparities in healthcare and health outcomes in underserved communities.
In addition, the coalition holds a Health Disparities Workgroup that meets monthly to discuss strategies to increase awareness and involve communities in the effort to eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in health. Bronx Health REACH works closely with community residents and leaders to better understand the root causes of racial and ethnic disparities in health outcomes and the ways the health care system treats people differently based on race and insurance status.
